While discussing the Iranian Election on Fox News, Former Deputy National Security Advisor Mark Pfeifle recently stated, “ If there’s anybody that should possibly get a Nobel Peace Prize in the next time around, it should be the founders of Twitter.” Since then, the idea has been surfacing all over the web and in several news reports.
Pfeifle’s op-ed today in The Christian Science Monitor makes the justification even clearer.
“When traditional journalists were forced to leave the country, Twitter became a window for the world to view hope, heroism, and horror. It became the assignment desk, the reporter, and the producer. And, because of this, Twitter and its creators are worthy of being considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
If you agree that Twitter has been an instrumental voice of the Iranian people and you would like to sign on with those who support Mr. Pfeifle’s recommendation, join us on Facebook. And when tweeting, use the hashtag #Twitter4NPP.
